My name is Chelsey and I’m a self-made Graphic Designer from Alberta, Canada. I am a mom of two polar opposite boys (see I’m even holding a soother in the picture!) who drive me to the brink of insanity almost every day and whom I cannot imagine life without.
I wanted to create a space that will speak to parents, give them tools, and provide printable files that are easy to use and easy on your printer ink. In this space, I also want to share what I’ve learned on my own journey to Graphic Design.
I started my Graphic Design business almost 6 years ago. A year earlier, I had failed miserably at a home-based business selling silver jewelry. One of the greatest lessons I learned from that experience was that I’m not a natural salesperson, but I LOVED doing all the marketing! I had already learned about the Adobe Creative Suite and was thirsting to learn more about illustrating and the Adobe Illustrator program. This thirst led to a LOT of Google searches, lessons learned, mistakes made, and more Google searches, as I knew that I still didn’t know what I didn’t know. I found some really great online programs, one of which is called atly and just kept learning.
While going through this learning curve, my first son was two years old. He was growing like a weed and although I felt like there were a lot of resources out there, none of them really spoke to me. After the birth of my second son, I had grown my graphic design business (Chelsey Design) locally, and also created a line of write-able, wipe-able personalized mats for kids called Munch-mats. But I was still missing something. I still felt I could provide more with my creativity and conversations about parenting.
Enter Designer Mom Blog! My hope is that you find this space a great resource and heck… just fun to be in! I ultimately want to connect with parents who like helping kids be a storyteller, or write their name, or need strategies for helping at home. I also want to provide printable tools and fun things that you can use right away at home. And lastly, I know there are a lot of entrepreneurs out there. Maybe they are just starting a business and could use some tips and tools relating to branding and how they are presenting their business to the world. I’d love to share what I’ve learned to make life a little easier for you.
My door is always open to hearing from you! Maybe you have a good idea for a post or would just like to chat about working with me. I’d love to hear from you!
